How to Play Piano From Chords

Read the symbol

Start with the root letter and chord quality. Add sevenths, suspensions or slash-bass notes only after basic triads feel automatic.

Choose a left-hand role

For simple accompaniment, the left hand can play the root, an octave, or a root-fifth pattern while the right hand supplies chord tones.
