Piano Practice Routine for Beginners

A routine should be short enough to repeat and flexible enough to serve your current goals. Divide time between technique, repertoire and one focused skill.

Five-minute reset

Use slow scales, chord shapes or easy patterns to check posture, relaxed movement and timing.

Ten-minute skill block

Pick one priority such as chord changes, reading, ear training or two-hand coordination.

Ten-minute music block

Work on a song or piece in small sections. Finish by playing something you already know so practice ends with music, not only correction.

Weekly review

Once a week, record a short performance and note one improvement plus one next target. This creates feedback without complicated tracking.
