How to Find Chords by Ear
Finding chords by ear becomes much easier when you identify the key center, listen to the bass, and test a small set of likely harmonies.

Find the tonal center
Listen for the note or chord that feels like rest. That often narrows the likely chord family.
Follow the bass
The lowest note can suggest a root, inversion or passing movement. It is a clue, not a guarantee.
